Title: Vk Presents: Very Unusual News Concerning Ygo
Description: Reposted from my forum
Vincent K - January 31, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)
To those of us who play, there are quite a lot of things we're used to. Cards getting banned, new sub-types of effect monsters, but what I present to you now is the biggest change to YGO since the creation of Advanced and Traditional Format.
They're changing some rules and terms. We're even getting a new category of card, category referring to Normal Monster, Effect Monster, Magic, etc.

New Expert Rule is now "Master Rule" Tribute Summons are now "Advanced Summons" Costs of any type are now "Release" The Fusion Deck has been renamed the "Extra Deck" and can be no more then 15 cards. The Side Deck can now contain anywhere between 0 to 15 cards. New Category of Card: "Synchron Monsters" Synchron Monsters have a white border and are placed in the Extra Deck (Formerly Fusion Deck). Synchron Monsters can be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck when the Level of a specific Tuner monster (more about Tuner monsters in a moment) and another monster matches the level of the Synchron Monster. Tuner monsters are a new sub-category of Effect Monsters. |
Things just got a whole lot weirder.

This game sucks even harder now.
Lu_NeoGondola - February 1, 2008 02:23 AM (GMT)
The mere name of the new cards is suggesting to me that it's gonna be quite a while before I find another card with art I like -.-;

I bet it's catering to religions. No specific religion about nailing a Jew to wood, though. No sir.
Sanctity - February 2, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
After Genocide was changed I think.

Chaos Hell Dragon - February 16, 2008 01:53 PM (GMT)
its damn konami trying to make the game sound cooler for the little kids, i bet all this new monster crap is so they can fit some kind of gay elemental heros and just in here....*runs to the corner to scream his lungs*
anyway, hopefully it wont be as retarted as it sounds...but knowing our luck...it will be T.T
i rly dont see y they are tring something new now...its not like they arnt making the money they use to...if anything they are making more, BUT now this is just going to throw ppl off and make them quit. and there isnt no other card game i can play Oo
magic's too old and i would have no idea where to start, and im scared to even look at that Chaotic crap since i happen to see the little cartoon thing one day b/c i noticed it had the same name...and just to let u know IT SUCKED! EVEN FOR A KID SHOW IT SUCKED!
~in conclusion...we're doomed someone start playing the funeral music~
Uria, Demon Flame Emperor - February 17, 2008 06:46 AM (GMT)
I don't really play anymore...
But honestly, who the hell puts more than 15 Fusion Monsters in their Fusion Deck?
Sanctity - February 17, 2008 07:04 AM (GMT)
you be surprised what some people will do. Memory crusher?
Chaos Hell Dragon - February 17, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
O.O lol. idk what ppl can do anymore >.>
Jolts - May 8, 2008 08:31 PM (GMT)
These are kinda stupid. The new Tuner/Synchron monsters look pretty cool, and I can see the reason for them going in the fusion/extra deck, but I bet this will throw off a lot of Hero Users, since I'm pretty sure there are over 15 fusions. This doesn't effect me that much since I don't use fusions a lot, but it will probably make a lot of people quit.
stain - May 8, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
this confused the hell out of me. now what is this saying somthign about 15 fusions i get that but whats with the other stuff?
Jolts - May 9, 2008 12:00 AM (GMT)
I'll try to explain it then.

In order:
I'm not entirely sure what the Expert Rule is so I can't really explain this one.
Just a change of name for the term of summoning a high-level monster using tributes.
A new name for the term "sacrifice" in the game.
You said you already got this one so it needs no explaining.
The side deck can only have 0-15 cards in it.
Synchron monsters are like Fusion or Ritual cards, and have their own color like Blue or Purple. They're kept in the "extra" deck, formerly "fusion" deck. They're summoned by a new type of monster that can be summoned normally called "tuner" monsters. These are a new type of effect monsters.
I hope that lessens the confusion and I suggest you watch 5D's to see how synchro/tuner monsters work if you're still confused.
The Prince of Persia God - May 9, 2008 01:01 AM (GMT)
I wish I knew these sooner. I got 5 guys kicked out of a tourney for cheating, useing less than 15 cards in a side deck. Oops, lol.
Oh and I offically quit this stupid game. You can';t just change basic rules like that.

I don't think it took effect yet.
Kai Hiwatari - May 9, 2008 03:43 AM (GMT)
i might quit when those dumb tuner things come into play.

Yes, because clearly quitting because Monster Reborn wasn't good enough. Or with the release of DAD as a Secret Rare. Tuner monsters are the final straw. /sarcasm
Seriously, I can understand quitting for the first two reason, but because of a change in game mechanics? No. That's just stupid. It's not like they completely re-wrote the rulebook.
Jolts - May 9, 2008 11:06 AM (GMT)
For those quitting, although I can kinda understand, it's not like they're changing something really major, like making tri- er, advanced summons not exist so someone can pull out a Blue-Eyes on one turn or something.
Flame Champion - May 9, 2008 03:31 PM (GMT)
changes to the rulebook aren't being done on a whim. They're being done to include a new style of summoning into the game, which makes the game more versatile. Players complain that there's only one or two types of playable decks, but Duelist Genesis makes several deck types playable.
is it really worth quitting just because you have to release a monster instead of tributing it, when the game is about to reach it's new pinnacle of awesomeness?
p.s. it is still currently illegal to use less than 15 cards in a side deck. this wont take effect until The Duelist Genesis.
The Prince of Persia God - May 9, 2008 03:44 PM (GMT)
^OK, good. It will give me time to actually quit. I've been thinking about it for awile anyway so I will be quiting either way. This just gives me a reason. I've been playing too long for them to just change basic rules like that, sorry.
I kinda like the idea of using different monsters in the "Extra deck" but thats about it. Just wait till they run into problems with people cheating with a side deck and no way to check.
Kai Hiwatari - May 9, 2008 08:34 PM (GMT)
Eh, I probably wont. I have said I will quit a million times, but never do. I though the tuner things would be like really hard to get or something.
Sanctity - May 9, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
I still havent seen a source.
O_o gimme proof. no pics and it never happened right?
Jolts - May 10, 2008 01:30 AM (GMT)
While I couldn't find it on Upperdeck's site, here's what I could find:

Sanctity - May 10, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
Thats interesting but its also an ocg decklist. But whatever it wont be hard to learn i guess even if i does come out.
stain - May 10, 2008 08:10 PM (GMT)
kinda wierd wonder what gave them this idea. i still dont get why they have to do it but oh well im not giving up on yugioh.
Jolts - May 11, 2008 03:54 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I don't see why people are quitting because of this. I find synchro summons to be a fresh, new twist to the game, and the new rules will cause yugioh to be at it's peak soon in my opinion.
De-Mach - May 20, 2008 03:08 PM (GMT)
there are only 2 rule changes o.o; the side deck. and the fusion deck o.o everything else just explains how sycns work. and tuners o.o and name changes. o.o; if you dont like it. stick to what you know. while your opponants is Advanced summoning their monster. tribute 2 Monsters for your DMoC o.O
